TODD DC-DC Converters

Todd Engineering has enjoyed stellar success with their line of battery charging systems for the Recreational Vehicle market. Three years ago they introduced a line of chargers and DC-DC converters tailored for the electric vehicle market. The high quality and very competitive pricing of these units has earned them increasing acceptance. Any of the converters listed here can operate all the accessories in your vehicle just as they functioned when it had an ICE alternator. We recommend that an auxiliary battery be installed to act as a safety backup. The converter will keep the battery properly charged.

The Todd models of principal interest to EV convertors are the PC20LV and PC40LV DC-DC converters. These devices accept input voltages from 96 to 144 volts, with output currents of 20 amps and 40 amps respectively, at 13.2 volts DC. The "LV" designation means that they are designed to keep operating when the pack voltage falls to end-of-range levels. Note that the PC30 and PC40 models are not suitable for 144-volt vehicles. Unfortunately, at this time there is no Todd model suitable for 72-volt vehicles.

The PC20LV is more than adequate for most vehicles. In one conversion, we tested the system for three hours with most accessories running - -- a/c blower motor, a/c condenser blower, controller fan, headlights, 4-way blinkers and radio. At the end of the test period, the accessory battery was fully charged and the PC20LV wasn't even warm. Todd DC-DC converters offer the convenience and performance of the original electrical system at an economical price, with a two-year limited warranty. EcoElectric Corporation is a master U.S. distributor to the EV market for all Todd products.
