Steamboat Springs Man Wins BMW X5 In Internet Contest

NEWRY, Maine, April 30 A Colorado man will receive the
keys to a new BMW X5 Sports Activity Vehicle on Tuesday, May 1.
David Wittlinger, 26, of Steamboat Springs, Co., won the vehicle after
participating in American Skiing Company's online "Win a BMW"
sweepstakes.
The presentation will occur May 1, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. at the Steamboat
Grand Resort Hotel, which is located at the Steamboat Ski Resort in Steamboat
Springs. Mr. Wittlinger, who works for a local property management company,
will be allowed to visit BMW's website and custom-design the features of his
new X5.
BMW is the official vehicle of American Skiing Company and its nine
resorts.
The contest, which drew entries from all over the world, invited
participants to sign up for daily or weekly ski condition reports from
American Skiing Company resorts.
"This was one of the most successful promotions our company has created,"
said Chris Brink, senior vice president of marketing and sales for American
Skiing Company, "and it's far and away the most successful promotion we've run
in order to drive skiers and snowboarders to our resort websites and
databases."
Each week during the ski season, American Skiing Company resorts
communicate with more than half a million households through opt-in E-mail
marketing programs, Brink said. He added that the company will launch a new
"Win a BMW" contest this week, with the prize awarded during the 2002-2003 ski
season.
"BMW is proud that American Skiing Company has chosen the X5 Sports
Activity Vehicle as the grand prize for their promotion," said Holly Babich,
Manager of Consumer Events for BMW of North America, LLC. "This reinforces
our highly-integrated partnership and clearly indicates that ASC recognizes
BMW as a valued partner."
