Southland's Enova Systems Provides Solutions to Energy Crisis With Variety of Electric, Fuel-Cell, Hybrid and Solar Products

TORRANCE, Calif.--May 30, 2001--Rep. Jane Harman (D-Redondo Beach) was joined by House Democratic Leader Richard Gephardt (D-Missouri) and other California members of Congress at a news conference today to showcase advanced energy technology developments by Los Angeles-area companies, hosted by Enova Systems, a global leader in mobile and stationary power.
The event, held at Enova's South Bay facility with participation from several leading Southern California producers of electric, fuel-cell, hybrid and solar power technologies, identified solutions to the nation's current energy crisis available now for use by business, industry and other consumers.
Harman said: "Enova is an ideal site to host this event, with its powerful combination of world-class products and local job creation. We look forward to working with Enova and the other fine companies represented here today as we craft a new national energy strategy."
Some of the alternative fuel resources and technologies on display were Ford's TH!NK car (city and neighborhood electric cars), an electric-powered bus, the world's most efficient industrial solar panels, Toyota and Honda hybrid and electric vehicles, fuel cells, microturbines, and the latest energy-efficient residential products.
Products on display included technologies developed by Enova, Ford, Hyundai, Honeywell, Toyota, Capstone, Amonix, Ledtronics and Siemens Solar.
According to Gephardt: "It is clear that the future of energy technology is here today in Southern California. It is well known that Enova and other companies are making progress toward fuel-cell automobiles. Today we also saw first-hand how fuel-cell technology may be adopted by stationary sources -- residential, commercial and industrial -- requiring a reliable energy supply."
Enova's president and chief executive officer, Carl D. Perry, in his remarks before the group, championed the advancements made in recent years in developing new energy technologies for various mobile and fuel-cell stationary applications (motor vehicles) and the global benefits derived from their endeavors.
"The energy technology of the future is here in Southern California today," said Perry. "Enova Systems is putting talented Angelenos to work, designing world-class products with world-class partners, such as Ford and Hyundai. We greatly appreciate the interest and recognition afforded by the personal visit of these key leaders of Congress."
