Auto Club to Demonstrate Advanced Technology Vehicles

    --Auto Club of Southern California

WHAT: Since average gas prices have exceeded $2 per
gallon, vehicles that are powered by something other
than gasoline or use advance technology to increase
fuel economy may be of interest to some commuters.

As part of its commitment to cleaner air and
advancing automotive technology, the Auto Club will
demonstrate six alternative fuel and advance
technology vehicles the majority of which are now
                  available to California consumers.

Each vehicle will be part of a larger, international
showcase of 60 advance technology vehicles called
the Michelin Challenge Bibendum in the fall. The
Auto Club is the technical consultant and official
measurements judge for the Bibendum, and will grade
each vehicle on handling, acceleration, noise and
fuel economy. The vehicles also will race from Los
Angeles to Las Vegas in October.

WHO: Automobile Club of Southern California engineers and
Michelin representatives who will test drive
vehicles with reporters and provide background on
the viability of these types of vehicles for general
                  consumer use.
