AAA Foundation Chooses Vingage to Help Promote Traffic Safety

RESTON, Va.--June 20, 2001--Vingage Corporation, a leading technology company that has created an efficient and cost effective platform for the management and delivery of video on the Internet, has licensed its technology to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety to help drivers of all ages drive safely and more carefully.
The AAA Foundation has licensed the Vingage Video Server for encoding, storage, management and streaming traffic safety videos on the AAA Foundation Web site www.seniordrivers.org. The AAA Foundation videos--ranging in length from 15 seconds to 23 minutes--include refreshers on basic skills such as yielding and merging as well as exercises to help seniors' driving fitness.
While the videos are designed for the general public, driving schools and community organizations will also find them useful.
"We are thrilled that the AAA Foundation selected Vingage's platform for an initiative as critical as educating drivers on safety," said Daniel Schiappa, president and CEO of Vingage. "Not only can the AAA Foundation now stream video from their Web sites to virtually any end user, but it's fast and seamless. It's truly a win-win situation."
The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety is a not-for-profit, publicly supported charitable education and research organization dedicated to saving lives and reducing injuries by preventing traffic crashes. The AAA Foundation is funded by donations from American Automobile Association (AAA) Clubs, individual AAA members and organizations affiliated with the AAA.
"We chose the Vingage platform to stream our videos for two important reasons," said AAA Foundation President and CEO David Willis. "It accommodates all formats and speeds, and our users will find it very easy to watch the videos. We know that many seniors may have limited computer skills, so keeping things simple was important."
Site visitors will be able to watch the AAA Foundation safety videos easier than ever on their personal computers. When a viewer requests a video, Vingage's Transparent User Identification will recognize the computer configuration.
Then the server's Video Delivery Optimization processes that information and automatically chooses the best video format and bit rate for streaming, without any intervention from the end user.
In addition, the Vingage solution makes it simple for the AAA Foundation to manage and deliver its content, thanks to AutoStream, which features the ability to easily deliver video from a single URL.
The Vingage Video Server allows for easy management and delivery of video content from virtually any file to virtually any viewer. The Vingage Video Server is a complete platform solution that manages, processes, transcodes, stores, delivers and streams digital video. In addition, the technology is designed to seamlessly support new formats and new devices as they are introduced.
