Porsche June Sales Down 4% From last Year

ATLANTA, July 3 -- Porsche Cars North America (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars in the United States and Canada, today announced U.S. retail sales totaled 1933 cars, which is a 4 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. The reason for the decrease in deliveries is limited availability for the company's sports cars. A strong world-wide boom in demand has caused allocations to be readjusted. In numerous markets, Porsche has experienced a dynamic increase in deliveries and demand. Production of the latest 911 model has also started, though these cars will not reach showrooms until September. Despite these pressures, PCNA's, January through June sales volume, including cars sold in Canada, has increased by 6 percent over the same period in the previous year. The result is second only to that of the same period in 1986.
