Land Rover North America, Inc. Reports Best Sales Month This Year; U.S. Land Rover Sales Up 2.1 Percent Over June 2000

    LANHAM, Md., July 3 Consumer response to a variety of high
value marketing programs continues to drive traffic at Land Rover retailers
throughout the U.S.  The British sport-utility manufacturer posted 2,427 total
U.S. sales in June -- the company's best month this year.  June marked a 28.2
percent increase in Range Rover sales with 509 units sold versus 397 in
June '00.  Land Rover Discovery Series II U.S. sales were slightly behind June
of last year with 1,918 posted versus 1,979 a year ago.  U.S. sales for the
first half continued to gain on the year ago period totaling 11,938 versus
12,982 -- 8.0 percent behind last year's record pace.
