XM SATELLITE RADIO LOGO
XM Satellite Radio will change the way Americans listen to radio by creating and packaging up to 100 channels of digital-quality music, news, sports, talk, comedy and children's programming in its all-digital, broadcast center in Washington, D.C. XM will offer unprecedented programming and original formats, transforming radio, an industry that hasn't seen a technological change since FM, almost 40 years ago. Using two high-powered satellites, XM will beam a signal directly to cars, homes and offices across the continental U.S. (PRNewsFoto)[JL]

XM Monthly Fee Can Now be Included when Leasing and Financing GM Vehicles

WASHINGTON, July 18 Boosting access and convenience of its
service, XM Satellite Radio announces that the option of
including the monthly XM subscription as part of the lease or finance of a new
GM vehicle will be available when customers finance through their dealers and
GMAC.

"We are excited to see the strong support General Motors is providing to
ensure XM Radio is implemented properly," said Steve Cook, XM's Senior Vice
President of Sales and Marketing. "Rolling the monthly service fee into the
monthly car payment is a win-win situation. Consumers will appreciate the
ease and convenience while XM and GM benefit by higher subscriber
penetration."

General Motors, a strategic investor in XM, owns a 12 percent share of the
company, directly and through its subsidiary DIRECTV. XM has a long-term
distribution agreement with General Motors to integrate XM radios into its
vehicles commencing in 2001. Now, customers with GMAC financing can choose
not to see a separate bill for XM's service. Instead, the XM subscription may
be included in their car payments.

XM successfully launched its second satellite on May 8, completing its
constellation. XM will transform radio, an industry that has seen little
technological change since FM, almost 40 years ago. XM will offer up to 100
channels of digital-quality sound and provide coast-to-coast coverage of
music, news, sports, talk, comedy and children's programming.

XM won several awards at the International Consumer Electronics Show in
January, including "Best of CES" in the automotive category. XM's strategic
investors include America's leading car, radio and satellite TV companies --
General Motors, American Honda Motor Co. Inc., Clear Channel Communications,
DIRECTV and Motient Corporation. XM-ready radios are being manufactured by
such household names as Sony, Alpine, Pioneer, Clarion, Blaupunkt, Delphi-
Delco, Visteon, Panasonic, and Sanyo. Radios are being shipped to retailers
including Best Buy, Circuit City, Sears and Crutchfield. For more
