Chrysler to Expand PT Cruiser Lineup

Dream Cruiser and Woodie Editions to Debut in 2002

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 15 Chrysler will add two new
offerings to its PT Cruiser lineup in 2002: the Chrysler PT Dream Cruiser
Series 1 and the Chrysler PT Cruiser "Woodie" edition.

"Without question, Chrysler PT Cruiser has become an icon for the Chrysler
brand," said Tom Marinelli, Vice President Chrysler/Jeep(R) Global Brand
Center. "By offering two new models, we're broadening the appeal for PT
Cruiser while keeping the brand and nameplate fresh in consumers' minds. Look
for Chrysler to continue to launch models similar to these into the
marketplace."

Chrysler PT Cruiser - Dream Cruiser Series 1

Introduced just in time for the Motor City's celebrated Woodward Dream
Cruise, the 2002 Chrysler PT Dream Cruiser Series 1 is a limited-edition model
that will be available in Chrysler dealerships by February of 2002. This
edition is the first in a series of factory-customized Dream Cruisers to be
introduced on an annual basis.

Chrysler will begin production on January 7 and will build only 7,500
units in North America, with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of
$23,170 for the manual transaxle version and $23,995 for the automatic
transaxle version (prices include $565 for destination).

The 2002 Chrysler PT Dream Cruiser will be painted Inca Gold, an evolution
of the color first shown on the Chrysler Pronto Cruizer concept car revealed
at the 1998 Salon de l'Automobile in Geneva, Switzerland. This color,
exclusive to this series of PT Cruisers, is a chrome-yellow gold with a
metallic sparkle. In addition to Inca Gold paint, the vehicle will feature a
"Dream Cruiser, Series 1" chrome badge on the liftgate. The car will also
sport 16-inch MOPAR chrome wheels with customized gold center caps and bright
PT Cruiser graphics.

"Visually, the Inca Gold monochromatic appearance unifies the Chrysler PT
Cruiser's dramatic form," said Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President of Design,
Chrysler Group. "With its unique color-keyed grille, bumpers and body-side
moldings, the vehicle takes on more of a customized look."

Inside, a special plaque will be integrated into the instrument panel that
reads, "Dream Cruiser, Series 1." The plaque also marks the number of the
vehicle, 1 - 7,500, to indicate the sequence in which it was built as part of
the limited edition Dream Cruiser production run. In addition, "Dream
Cruiser" will be embroidered into the floor mats with matching Inca Gold
thread.

The same matching colored accents appear throughout the interior -- on the
instrument panel, including the passenger-side air bag door and instrument
cluster bezel. Door bolsters are a matching gold grain vinyl. Seats are Dark
Taupe and Light Pearl Beige with Inca Gold half-moon leather inserts. An
unique textured leather, called Matrix leather, is used in the seat cushion,
seat back inserts, steering wheel, and shift knob on automatic transmissions.

2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser "Woodie" Edition

Since PT Cruiser was first introduced in the spring of 2000 as an early
2001 model, aftermarket wood paneling applications quickly surfaced throughout
the country. For the Chrysler PT Cruiser "Woodie" edition, Chrysler designers
reached back to the brand's strong wood-body car heritage which was
established in 1941 through 1950 with the Chrysler Town & Country series.
Later, in 1968, Chrysler introduced simulated wood-panel design applications
on its station wagons, and most recently on its best-selling Chrysler and
Dodge minivans in the 1980s and Jeep(R) Grand Cherokee in the early 1990s.

"For the Chrysler PT Cruiser Woodie edition, we wanted a design execution
that recreated the carefree fun of the popular 1960s California surf wagons,"
said Creed. "We wanted a clean, elegant execution that flowed with the lines
of the car as well as a professional, factory-level look currently not
available in the aftermarket."

A simple, flowing wood-grained graphic appears on all four doors, the
quarter panels and liftgate. The graphic is a linear Medium Oak woodgrain
framed with Light Ash surround moldings. Unlike aftermarket wood accent
applications, this vehicle will have a full factory warranty.

The Chrysler PT Cruiser "Woodie" option will be available on all Chrysler
PT Cruiser models including base, Touring and Limited models. The
manufacturer's suggested retail price for the option is $895.

Chrysler has sold more than 220,000 Chrysler PT Cruisers worldwide since
the vehicle first went on sale in April of 2000. To help meet increased
demand for PT Cruiser, Chrysler recently announced its second production
increase. By the fall of 2002, Chrysler will have the capacity to build PT
Cruisers at a rate of 310,000 vehicles per year, up from the current capacity
of 180,000 vehicles per year.

With the addition of the Chrysler PT Dream Cruiser Series 1, the price
range for a Chrysler PT Cruiser is $16,765 to $23,995. Chrysler PT Cruisers
are built in Toluca, Mexico and Graz, Austria.
