General Motors to Offer XM Radios in More Than 20 Car and Truck Models Next Year

GM Begins Factory-Installing XM Radios in Cadillac DeVilles and Sevilles

WASHINGTON, Sept. 4 On the heels of XM Satellite Radio's
debut on Cadillac Sevilles and DeVilles this fall, General Motors Corp., will
offer XM in more than 20 '03 models, making it one of the fastest technology
roll-outs in GM history.

In November 2001, GM will become the first auto manufacturer in the world to offer XM Satellite Radio as a factory-installed option on 2002 Cadillac DeVilles and Sevilles. Beginning next fall, the start of the '03 model year, the XM option will expand to more than 20 models throughout the GM lineup. Specific brands and models will be announced closer to introduction.

"We're delighted that General Motors, the nation's largest automaker, will expand XM's service throughout its car and truck line," said XM President and CEO Hugh Panero. "GM, as an auto technology leader, is making a powerful statement about consumer demand for our service as we prepare to launch Sept. 12."

"This is yet another example of General Motors commitment to leadership in innovative products and services," said Ron Zarrella, president, GM North America. "Beginning with Cadillac, the tip of the corporate spear in technology, we will have a massive expansion of this unique feature across our carlines."

Consumers will have the option to include their monthly XM subscription fees into their GMAC vehicle lease or financing the lease or finance of their vehicles when financing through dealers and GMAC. Customers with GMAC financing can choose to include the XM subscription in their car payments rather than see a separate bill for XM's service.

About XM

XM will transform radio, an industry that has seen little technological change since FM, almost 40 years ago. XM will offer 100 channels of digital- quality sound coast-to-coast: 71 music channels, more than 30 of them commercial-free, and 29 news, sports and talk channels, all for $9.99 a month. Supported by a $100 million multi-media ad campaign, XM will launch commercial service in San Diego and Dallas/Fort Worth on Sept. 12, throughout the Southwest in mid-October and across the nation in November. Sony, Alpine and Pioneer XM radios will be distributed through major electronics retailers including Best Buy, Circuit City, Sears, participating RadioShack dealers and franchisees, and Crutchfield. GM is a strategic investor in XM.
