Exide Technologies Facility in Kansas Earns Quality Certification

SALINA, Kan., Sept. 10 Exide Technologies , the
global leader in stored electrical-energy solutions, announced today that its
transportation battery manufacturing facility in Salina, Kansas has earned the
ISO/TS 16949 quality certification.

    The ISO/TS 16949 certification is a broad-based award acknowledging
superior quality in design, purchasing, production, sales, marketing and
service. It is sanctioned by Entela, an independent international assessment
and registration service.

"The employees in Salina have been very dedicated in their efforts to
achieve ISO/TS 16949 certification as part of Exide Technologies ongoing
initiative to earn this quality certification at all of our global locations,"
said Craig H. Muhlhauser, president and chief executive officer of Exide
Technologies. "We applaud the people at Salina for their hard work and
commitment to helping us reach our goal."

ISO certifications are categorized into a broad range of business systems.
A facility becomes ISO-certified after independent auditors investigate and
document that its quality and environmental processes conform to relevant
standards. The objective of the certification is to give a company's
management and customers confidence that the company is in control of its
processes.

The Salina facility manufactures transportation batteries for aftermarket
customers throughout North America.
