Pedestrian Involved Crashes Are Up in Los Angeles County

    Secretary of Business Transportation and Housing, Auto Club and
    Glendale Police To Emphasize Need for Back-to-School Safety



VISUALS:  First and second graders, Auto Club's robotic car, "Otto the
          Auto" giving children pedestrian safety tips, children 
          crossing street with aid of news conference participants, 
          video of new Auto Club pedestrian safety campaign, "Let's 
          Watch Out for Each Other" which is being broadcast over the 
          next three weeks.

WHAT:     The number of school-age children being killed and injured 
          in pedestrian-related accidents is rising in Los Angeles 
          County and California as a whole. News conference 
          participants will discuss ways to bring the numbers down.
