ArvinMeritor Brings Industry's Air2Air(TM) Exhaust System to Customers

FRANKFURT, Germany, Sept. 14 ArvinMeritor Inc.
today officially launched its first Air2Air exhaust system, combining air
induction and exhaust development into an integrated airflow solution for
automotive OEM customers.

In a strategic move to grow its exhaust systems business, ArvinMeritor has
announced: a letter of intent for the supply of a complete Air2Air system; an
alliance to expand its manufacturing capabilities; and an exclusive technology
agreement with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

    * The company signed a Letter of Intent with ASC Vehicle Technologies to
supply Air2Air, a complete exhaust and induction system, for a specialty car
program. This marks the first Air2Air contract for ArvinMeritor and signals
the company's commitment to the Air2Air concept. Gaining this new business
also demonstrates the product's viability in the marketplace. Benefits
include full-system integration, enhanced NVH and optimization of weight and
performance.

    * Exhaust Systems is formalizing an alliance with Managed Programs, Inc.
(MPI), a major developer of intake manifolds headquartered in Rochester Hills,
Mich., U.S. The alliance provides the company with the design and development
expertise necessary to expand its induction system offerings beyond snorkels,
filters and filter housings, to include intake manifolds.

    * ArvinMeritor signed an exclusive technology development agreement with
MIT. The agreement, which includes a family of patented technologies
developed by MIT's Plasma Laboratory, is focused on commercializing new
emissions aftertreatment and other systems for the automotive industry.

"Our Air2Air product offers our customers cutting-edge technology to
optimize engine air flow, noise, vibration and harshness, emissions management
and overall engine performance," said Craig Stinson, president, ArvinMeritor
Exhaust Systems. "The joint technology development program with MIT also
promises to offer cost-effective solutions that comply with more stringent
emissions regulations that will soon take effect in North America and Europe.
These agreements reinforce our commitment to provide our customers with
innovative solutions and added value."
