Two Months of Gas Price Declines And Apparently No End in Sight

LOS ANGELES--Nov. 9, 2001--The average price of regular self-serve gasoline fell throughout Southern California and Nevada for the eighth consecutive week, according to the Weekend Gas Watch, compiled by the Automobile Club of Southern California.
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for motoring trips.
Currently, the average price of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $1.320 per gallon. This is 4.9 cents lower than last Friday and nearly 72 cents below the record high set in May 2001. In San Diego, the price is 3.3 cents lower than last week's level. Motorists in the central coast are enjoying an average that's 6.5 cents below last Friday's price.
"Beginning the week of September 8th to the end of October, California's gasoline refiners produced 11.3 percent less product in an effort to stop the free fall of gas prices," said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. "Despite that effort, prices continue to fall. This is great news for motorists who will travel for the Thanksgiving holiday."
