Ford and SMUD To Sponsor Gala Event At the Electric Transportation Conference

WASHINGTON, D.C.--Nov. 28, 2001--One of the unforgettable events at the Electric Transportation Industry Conference is sure to be the "Gala" at the Golden State Museum in Sacramento, California for conference delegates.
The Gala, hosted by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Americas (EVAA) and sponsored by Ford Motor Company and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), is scheduled for Thursday, December 13th from 6pm - 9pm at the brand new Golden State Museum. All conference attendees -- including members of the press -- are invited to the special evening event.
At the Gala, attendees will have the opportunity to tour one of Sacramento's most informative attractions. The Golden State Museum brings the rich history of California to life with a mix of traditional exhibits and state-of-the-art technology. The multimedia technology incorporated into the museum's numerous exhibits will be a suitable backdrop to the "meeting of the minds" of the nation's leading electric transportation innovators, manufacturers and supporters. In addition to the museum's learning experience, drinks, food and live entertainment will surely add to the evening's wonderful charm. A highlight of the gala will include a give-away of a Ford TH!NK Bike by EVAA's Conference Chairman and Alternative Fuel Vehicle Marketing Manager for Ford, Mike McCabe.
All conference delegates will be transported to and from the event on state-of-the-art hybrid and fuel cell electric buses.
ETIC 2001 will bring together electric vehicle experts from around the United States to discuss automotive designs, electric transportation technology advancements, infrastructure development, in-depth tutorials, and commercialization issues. In addition to the four-day conference exposition and Media Day on Wednesday, December 12, the event will include an informative California Fuel Cell Partnership event where attendees will have the opportunity to test drive over 40 electric, hybrid electric and fuel cell vehicles as well as listen to many automotive technology briefings.

EVAA is the industry association working to advance electric vehicles and supporting infrastructure through policy, information and market development initiatives in the U.S., and to serve as the Americas' representative to the World Electric Vehicle Association. EVAA members include auto companies and other vehicle manufacturers, electric utilities, EV component suppliers, research institutions and government agencies. The Association serves as the industry's source of information about electric vehicles.
