Kia Skill World Cup Scores Big With American Mechanics

Kia U.S. Mechanics Take Three Out of Top Four Places in International Competition

IRVINE, Calif., May 6 -- In a surprising near-sweep of the top four positions, including the title of "World's Best", Kia technicians from the United States wowed the competition in Korea during the first Kia Skill World Cup. Frank Rosing of Southlake Kia in Merrillville, IN, Jim Schofield of Cowboy Corral Kia in Longmont, Colorado, Jeff Jacobs of Delray Kia in Delray Beach, Florida and Ken Sessom of Mitchell Kia in San Angelo, Texas earned first, third and tied for fourth place respectively after completing a series of difficult automotive diagnostic tests along with 35 other competitors representing more than 30 countries.

"These guys have set a terrific example that Kia dealers are striving to achieve world-level service here in the United States," said Peter Butterfield, Kia's executive vice president and COO. "We congratulate Frank, Jim, Jeff and Ken on their achievement and the high standards they have set for all Kia technicians."

The competitors were scored on seven different modules, each section worth a possible 100 points. The categories included a written test, automatic transmission diagnosis, automatic mechanical repair, engine mechanical repair, engine electrical repair, electrical diagnosis and electrical repair.
