Nissan Diesel reports 27% profit rise

Wednesday, May 22, 2002 TOKYO — Nissan Diesel Motor Co said Wednesday its group pretax profit increased 27.3% in the year to March 31 to 5.04 billion yen from the previous year due to cost-cutting efforts and lower loan interest payments.

Group net profit edged up 0.9% to 610 million yen on group sales of 371.72 billion yen, down 8.1%, said the truck and bus manufacturer, which is owned 22.5% each by Nissan Motor Co and Renault SA of France. (Kyodo News)
