On June 3, 2002, Ford announced that it will stop backing its joint
venture with Qualcomm called Wingcast. Wingcast was supposed to
become a competitor for OnStar in the nascent North American
Telematics Market.

The North American Telematics market emerged approximately 6 years
ago when General Motors introduced OnStar and Ford introduced RESCU.
Ford's RESCU soon vanished and OnStar became the leader in this
market.
