ACDelco Racing Heritage Sweepstakes Winner Announced

Grand Blanc, Mich. - Richard Storch is your average auto racing fan. He follows the NASCAR® circuit and has even attended some races. Now, thanks to ACDelco, he is the envy of race fans around the country.

Storch, from Gansevoort, N.Y., won the Grand Prize in the ACDelco Racing Heritage online sweepstakes and is the proud owner of an ACDelco racing fire suit worn by Kevin Harvick during his 2001 NASCAR Busch® Series championship season.

The rare, flame-retardant suit, made exclusively for Harvick, is for collectible purposes only. It has an approximate retail value of $1,200. Storch's name was selected in a random drawing from all names entered in the sweepstakes.

Storch, who uses ACDelco parts in all his vehicles including a 1971 Chevelle, says he isn't sure what he will do with the fire suit, but "plans to keep it for now."

According to Jeanne M. Fox, associate administrator, e-commerce marketing for ACDelco, the intent of the online sweepstakes was to recognize ACDelco's run of successful drivers such as Harvick, Steve Park and Dale Earnhardt Jr. and at the same time introduce Johnny Sauter as the new ACDelco Busch Series driver.

"Over the past five seasons, ACDelco has had some of the best young drivers in NASCAR," Fox says. "We wanted to kick off the Johnny Sauter era for the ACDelco Busch Series team by offering ACDelco customers a chance to win some exciting ACDelco racing collectibles.

"The response was very positive," she says. "We saw a 15 percent spike in user sessions in the duration of the sweepstakes."

Twenty-five First Prize-winners received ACDelco/Goodwrench 1:24 scale die cast 2001 Monte Carlo model cars in the sweepstakes. The limited-production collectibles commemorate Harvick's winning the 2001 Busch Series Championships and Rookie of the Year in the Winston Cup® Series. Another 25 Second Prize-winners received ACDelco racing team hats.
