Independence Driver to Compete At National Championships Representing Consolidated Freightways

VANCOUVER, Wash.--June 13, 2002--Cliff Dougan, a 29-year professional driver/salesman, will represent Consolidated Freightways at the National Truck Driving Championships August 13-17 in Milwaukee, Wis. Dougan captured first place in the 4-axle competition at the Missouri State Truck Driving Championships, held May 31 to June 1 in Joplin.

Dougan will be competing at the national championship event for the first time. He has participated in state competitions since 1985 and has several second-place finishes to his credit. Hired in 1973, he currently serves CF customers in north Kansas City.

Dougan, 54, resides in Independence, Mo. He and his wife Jean have six children.

The national championship competition, which has been conducted by the American Trucking Associations (ATA) since 1937, selects champions in nine types of truck industry vehicles, including straight truck, three-, four-, and five-axle trucks, tankers, flatbeds and twins. Drivers from all 50 states will compete for national titles in these categories. All competitors receive scores based on an evaluation of their driving skills, a personal interview and a written test.

Consolidated Freightways is a $2.2 billion transportation company primarily providing less-than-truckload freight transportation throughout North America using its system of 300 terminals and over 18,000 employees.
