Nissan to lift US plant capacity by 150,000

TOKYO, June 20 Reuters reported that Nissan Motor Co, Japan's third-largest automaker, plans to boost its planned production capacity at its U.S. Canton plant in Mississippi by 150,000 units to 400,000, an industry source told Reuters on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Nissan Chairman Yoshikazu Hanawa told the annual shareholders' meeting that the company was reviewing its production capacity in North America.

The Canton plant, due to start operations next May, is currently due to have an annual production capacity of 250,000 vehicles.
