VirTra Systems Announces Upgrade of Buick's VR Experience

ARLINGTON, Texas, June 27-- VirTra Systems, Inc. today announced that Buick has renewed and upgraded for the third consecutive year its highly successful "Drive With Confidence" tour virtual reality test drive developed by VirTra Systems.

The experiences are integrated into two specially designed tractor-trailers that include 16 Buick LeSabre seats, and feature photorealistic simulation. The participants "ride" with Buick's 2002 PGA Tour visor player, professional golfer J. J. Henry. Visitors place the seatbelt around them and, via a head-mounted display offering 360-degree field of view and sense of smell, take a seven-and-a-half minute virtual LeSabre ride across the United States.

"This virtual reality test drive component for the 'Drive with Confidence' tour has been extremely successful for Buick," commented Michael Hand, promotion manager at Buick. "We're proud of the increased recognition and consideration for LeSabre the tour has generated and we look forward to another successful year," concluded Hand.

The test drive, when initially developed in 2000, was the first-ever commercial sales-targeted virtual reality experience, using photorealistic content, and it validates the versatility of virtual reality technology in diverse markets. Since then, VirTra Systems has developed virtual reality promotional experiences for other corporate clients, including Chevrolet's "Olympic Torch City Celebration Tour" and Red Baron Pizza's Stearman Squadron stunt team.

"We are pleased that Buick continues to utilize our company's immersive virtual reality technology in its brand awareness campaigns," stated Lance Loesberg, VirTra Systems' executive vice-president. "We have successfully expanded into the promotional/advertising and educational industries (e.g., science centers, museums, etc.) over the past two years. Now we are penetrating the training/simulation industry. This renewal is firsthand testimony for the durability, versatility, and longevity of the systems we manufacture, and it also depicts the tremendous influence that 360-degree virtual reality environments have on human perception," Loesberg concluded.
