Toyota Reports Strong June Sales

TORRANCE, Calif., July 2 -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported its best-ever first-half sales in 45 years of business in the U.S. with calendar-year-to-date (CYTD) sales of 878,354, up 2.2 percent, topping last year's record first-half. Toyota also posted its best-ever second-quarter with sales of 468,725 units. Strong June sales of 151,863 were down just 0.6 percent over last year's record-setting month.

"Attractive industry sales incentives in the second half of the year will create a strong buyers market and offset the recent decline in consumer confidence," said Jim Press, TMS executive vice president and COO.
