BEA WebLogic Makes Networkcar Nationwide Wireless Automotive Service Run

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 15 BEA Systems, Inc., the world's leading application infrastructure software company, announced today that Networkcar, Inc. has built an award-winning automotive telematics service on the BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform(TM). Networkcar's Service is designed to provide consumers, fleet managers, and roadside assistance providers with real-time visibility into the whereabouts and condition of vehicles by leveraging on- board computers that have been standard equipment in every car sold in the U.S. since 1996.

Networkcar utilizes a nationwide cellular network to monitor hundreds of diagnostic variables and locate vehicles around-the-clock to deliver stolen vehicle recovery services and Smart Roadside Assistance. By receiving vehicle data continuously, the BEA-powered service provides real-time performance monitoring and can help authorities track and recover stolen vehicles. Consumers and service providers receive e-mail messages when scheduled maintenance is due or a problem is detected with the vehicle. In a groundbreaking program in California, Networkcar members can even receive a remote smog check without the cost or inconvenience of taking their vehicle into a physical inspection facility.
