Illinois/Northern Indiana Gas Prices Show Slight Decrease, According to AAA Chicago

AURORA, Ill., July 17 -- According to AAA Chicago's most recent fuel gauge report, gas prices have dropped an average of 6 cents a gallon throughout Illinois and northern Indiana over the last month. Prices in Illinois now average $1.43 a gallon, which is down 7 cents from last month's average of $1.50 a gallon.

In Cook County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline now averages $1.556 per gallon, which is down 7 cents from last month and up 15 cents from last year.

In DuPage County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline now averages $1.496 per gallon, 7 cents lower than June prices.

In Kane County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.453 per gallon, 7 cents lower than June prices.

In Lake County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.434 per gallon, 8 cents lower than June prices.

In McHenry County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.448 per gallon, 6 cents lower than June prices.

In Will County, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.441 per gallon, 8 cents lower than June prices.

In northern Indiana, self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.331 per gallon, 4 cents higher than last month and 8 cents higher than last year.

"Gas prices have remained relatively stable this summer; however, a tightening of cleaner burning reformulated fuel inventories could edge prices slightly higher before the end of summer," said Steve Nolan, spokesman for AAA Chicago. "Most of the inventory pressure should subside by August as requirements for reformulated fuel end."
