200 HUMMERs Converge for HUMMER Homecoming 2002

South Bend, Indiana…Hundreds of HUMMERs owners, including the most famous owner Arnold Schwarzenegger, are caravanning to South Bend, Indiana for the 2002 HUMMER Homecoming 2002, August 4-9, 2002.

“2002 has been a big year for HUMMER as we’ve introduced the new H2 SUV and an all new dealer network.” Said HUMMER general manager Mike DiGiovanni. “Homecoming gives us a chance to celebrate the expansion of the HUMMER brand with our H1 owners by welcoming the new H2 to the family.”

The big celebration of the HUMMER Homecoming 2002 event happens on Wednesday, August 7th at noon with a truck show at the Century Center followed by a parade of HUMMERs through the hometown of HUMMER – South Bend, Indiana at 3:00 PM.

Thursday afternoon HUMMER’s most famous owner Arnold Schwarzenegger arrives to participate in the Homcoming festivities meeting the owners and off-roading at the track.

Throughout the week, participants in Homecoming will be able to off-road at AM General’s 320 acre Test Track, take tours of the H1 and H2 manufacturing facilities or take technical classes about their truck. There is also a trip to the sand dunes of Silver Lake, Michigan, a Sea Ray boat-cruise in Michigan City, Indiana.

HUMMER Homecoming is supported by AM General, General Motors and The HUMMER Club, Inc. GM bought the rights to the HUMMER brand from AM General in December of 1999. The two companies have since worked in partnership on the HUMMER H1 and the new HUMMER H2 SUV.
