Cummins Westport appoints Ching Gettman as General Manager - Asia

VANCOUVER, Aug. 15 - Cummins Westport Inc., a joint venture of Cummins Inc. and Westport Innovations Inc.of Vancouver, announced today that it has appointed Ching Gettman as General Manager - Asia.

Ms. Gettman is currently the Cummins Director of Marketing in Beijing where she leads the company's government relations, public relations and marketing communications group. In her new position, she will be responsible for Cummins Westport's sales throughout Asia.

Says Cummins Westport President Hugh Foden: "We see a significant opportunity for our natural gas engines in Asia, particularly in the near term with transit buses in large Asian cities.

"We have established credibility and strong relationships with our sales and service success in Beijing. We believe Ms. Gettman is the person to build on that and expand sales not only into other cities in China, but also into other parts of Asia, in particular South East Asia and India."

More recently, Ms. Gettman organized U.S. President George Bush's Clean Energy press event in Beijing in February this year. She has also worked closely with the U.S. and Canadian governments in promoting natural gas bus engines throughout China.

Ms. Gettman has a Masters degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelors degree in engineering mechanics from Johns Hopkins University. She has held positions in product planning, engineering and marketing in Cummins and worked at NASA as an aerospace engineer. She is a former member of the U.S. Army Reserves.
