Charity Motors Donates $50,000 to University of Detroit Mercy

DETROIT, Sept. 12 -- Charity Motors, along with Ed McNamara and L. Brooks Patterson, Ron and Kitty Thayer will celebrate the dedication of the Ed & Brooks Room (or is it the Brooks & Ed Room?) on Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at Calihan Hall from 5:30 until 7 p.m. on the U of D Campus, 14001 W. McNichols in Detroit, Michigan.

Charity Motors donated $50,000 to the project to support U of D's educational efforts and to match the additional $30,000 raised by U of D Mercy Alumni, each of whom donated $1,000. Charity Motors is to be honored along with Wayne County Executive Ed McNamara and Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson.

Charity Motors was founded in 1995 and has since been a leader in the car donation industry. Those who donate their car through this non-profit organization receive a tax deduction and seventy percent of the profit from the sale of the vehicle goes to the charity of their choice. Currently, Charity Motors is distributing over $40,000 a week to over 1,000 worthy organizations. Charity Motors has supported charities such as the Alzheimer's Association, American Red Cross, Children's Hospital, Hospice of Michigan, National Kidney Foundation, United Negro College Fund, and many more.

Additionally, Charity Motors launched its own auto auction in June of 2000, specifically designed to help low income individuals with transportation assistance. To date, Charity Motors has helped over 25,000 families with low cost transportation.
