Turn Signals are for Wimps, According to Dr. Roadmap's L.A. FREEWAY GAME

    LOS ANGELES--Oct. 16, 2002--

While the Game Stirs Fierce Competition On the Playing Board, Dr. Roadmap Says It Will Help Decrease Congestion On the Freeways

In an 11 a.m. meeting on Oct. 16, 2002, David Rizzo, better known as Dr. Roadmap, will present a copy of his new L.A. FREEWAY GAME -- a board game that entertains players while they learn to conquer the L.A. freeway system -- to Tracy Cohen, assistant deputy mayor for James K. Hahn, mayor of Los Angeles.
The game board is a simplified map of the central-L.A. area freeway system that challenges players to find the shortest way to L.A. City Hall and win the game. The excitement comes from foiling the progress of opposing players, as each player takes turns controlling the moves of a roving patrol car.
"Competition almost reaches the level of road rage," warned Rizzo. "Yet, I mainly created it for the purpose of educating motorists about our freeway system. I found out during my days as a traffic reporter that many people get lost trying to surf between the various interchanges. The L.A. freeway grid is complicated. I try to make it less so."
Dr. Roadmap's L.A. FREEWAY GAME also features 50 game questions taken from the California Driver Handbook, as well as a CD of traffic reports and a set of orange cones for players to dodge.
When asked why he chose to award one of the first copies of his game to the mayor's office, Rizzo responded: "It's not because the mayor or any of his staff has endorsed this game in any manner, but getting to L.A. City Hall is what determines who wins the game -- so it seemed only fitting.
"Besides, just as Siamese twins are joined by mutual arteries, downtown Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley are joined by the freeways they share, as shown on the game map. I'm sure the mayor appreciates this symbol of unity."
Dr. Roadmap's L.A. FREEEWAY GAME retails at $19.95 plus sales tax and can be obtained by visiting www.DrRoadmap.com or mailing a check to: Dr. Roadmap, LLC; P.O. Box 2683; Fullerton, Calif. 92837. Add $3.95 for shipping.
