Hydrogen Energy Leaders from Iceland Discuss Promise of Hydrogen Thurs., Oct. 24, 3:15 p.m., Scandinavia House, 58 Park Ave., New York

For a small country located in the middle of the North Atlantic, Iceland has made huge progress toward creating the world's first "Hydrogen Society" -- a country entirely free from the use of fossil fuels.
In a few decades, experts predict hydrogen fuel cells will be powering all of Iceland's cars, buses, and fishing fleets.
Learn about the promise of hydrogen energy for the U.S. from Jon Bjorn Skulason, general manager of New Energy Ltd., at the Icelandic American Trade Seminar, Thursday, Oct. 24, at 3:15 - 4 p.m. at the Scandinavia House (58 Park Avenue at 37th - 38th streets) in New York.
The seminar will focus on HYDROGEN: Energy Solution for the U.S., Fuel for Economic Growth in Iceland. Iceland has already progressed further than any other country in exploiting its abundant sources of renewable energy. Learn about future prospects of scientific innovation in this field.
Hydrogen is just one of many topics scheduled during the all-day seminar that begins at 9:30 a.m. and includes presentations on seafood by Magnus Gustafsson of Icelandic USA; on genetic and pharmaceutical research by Dr. Kari Stefansson of deCode Genetics; and on power intensive industries by Kenneth Peterson, president and CEO of Columbia Ventures. From Icelandair, president and CEO Sigurdur Helgason will speak on tourism; and representatives of the Iceland Stock Exchange, Goldman Sachs, and Valur Valsson, CEO, of Islandsbanki, will focus on investing in Iceland.
