Mercedes E-Class Showcases Wide Range of Continental Technologies

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 7, 2002; Continental, through its units, Continental Tire, ContiTech and Continental Automotive Systems, are major suppliers on the new Mercedes E-Class from DaimlerChrysler.

The Conti Temic electronics business unit of Continental Automotive Systems supplies a number of products, including: Adaptive Cruise Control; air suspension units; airbag and seat heating controllers; oil sensor; door controllers with express-up/anti-trap window control; electronic ignition switch; electronic engine cooling fan; and seat adjuster motors.

The Continental Teves unit of Continental Automotive Systems is providing Mercedes with rear brake calipers and brake hoses.

Drivers of the E-Class will enjoy a smooth ride thanks in part to Continental Tire. The company is supplying Mercedes with ContiPremiumContact, ContiSportContact and ContiWinterContact tires.

In addition, DaimlerChrysler tapped a number of business units within ContiTech to supply: drive belts; sun visor coating materials; expanded PVC sheets and PVC leatherette for seats; door armrest sheeting; diaphragm materials; air conditioning lines; fuel hoses and fuel line assemblies; expanding hose line for power steering; transmission oil line and hoses for the electrohydraulic brake system; door seals; steering gear boots; and torsional vibration dampers.
