Texas AAA: Fuel Prices Decrease Second Consecutive Week
HOUSTON--Nov. 8, 2002--The statewide average price for regular self-serve fuel declined for a second week in a row, according to the Weekend Gas Watch, compiled by AAA Texas. The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for motoring trips.The Texas average is $1.40 a gallon -- down a penny since last week. The biggest decrease was in Corpus Christi, down nearly three cents to $1.34 a gallon. Corpus Christi also has the least expensive fuel this week. San Antonio is next at $1.35 a gallon, down nearly two cents. Dallas, Fort Worth and the Houston area all posted a one cent drop. The average in all three cities is $1.40, the same as the state average.
"Motorists should expect fuel prices to remain near their current levels," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "Current supplies are still below the inventories seen one year ago. At that time, Texas motorists were paying an average of $1.14 a gallon, a quarter less than this year's prices."
