Imaginary Forces Captures Slice of Car History With Its Presentation of '100 Years of Ford'

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--Nov. 11, 2002--Imaginary Forces (IF), a multi-disciplinary design and entertainment firm based in Hollywood and New York, is getting ready for the annual Detroit Auto Show, as it creates a 12-minute film exploring the legendary 100-year history of Ford. The film will be projected on two 10X100 feet screens that will greet attendees as they enter the show this January. Following its Detroit debut, this celebration of Ford will tour the country, visiting major cities.
Designed to play out like a visual symphony with six 'movements,' the film travels along a timeline, affording a look at the past, present and future of the Ford Motor Car division and illustrating how Ford has changed the American landscape and lifestyle.
New York-based Creative Director and Partner Mikon van Gastel is heading the IF team. The Dutch native recently spearheaded Imaginary Forces' collaboration with United Architects, one of six consortiums chosen to submit a design to redevelop the former World Trade Center site. "Our goal with the Ford film is to immerse and captivate the viewers, allowing them to momentarily step out of the hectic reality of the convention and feel mesmerized by the powerful story of this cultural icon."
An innovative powerhouse in commercials, Imaginary Forces has worked with a lengthy list of advertising and corporate clients, creating spots for Ford, Cadillac, Mercedes, Honda, Pontiac, Chevrolet, and Oldsmobile. Additionally, over the last several years Imaginary Forces has emerged as a leader in architectural media and event design. Recent projects include the creation of stadium experiences for the Baltimore Ravens and the Portland Trailblazers and collaborations on IBM Innovation Center environments and 24-hour content that spans a full city block in New York's Time Square.
Founded in 1996 by Kyle Cooper, Chip Houghton and Peter Frankfurt, Imaginary Forces' award-winning work spans a diverse arena of industries, including entertainment, advertising, architecture, sports and new media. Among its recent high-profile work are 10 commemorative stamps, celebrating "American Filmmaking," and the title sequences for the box-office phenomenon "Spider Man" and the new TV series "Boomtown."
