AAA TEXAS: Weekend Gas Watch; Gas Prices Decrease Amid Concerns Over Military Action Against Iraq
HOUSTON--Dec. 6, 2002--Motorists are starting to see more price decreases at the pumps as concerns over military action against Iraq intensify, according to the Weekend Gas Watch, compiled by AAA Texas. The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for motoring trips.The Texas average is $1.32 a gallon -- down four cents since the Thanksgiving holiday. Corpus Christi and the Austin - San Marcos area posted the biggest drop, down more than four cents. Corpus Christi has the least expensive fuel at $1.23 a gallon, while the Austin - San Marcos area follows at $1.27 a gallon. Dallas inched pass Houston to top the list at $1.34 a gallon, a decline of three cents.
"The outlook for prices remain uncertain," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "There are growing concerns that military action against Iraq is inevitable as well as renewed labor unrest in Venezuela's energy industry."
