The Hunt Is Over - GM Performance Parts Powers to Win in IHRA

INDIANAPOLIS- They had been there before. Revved up and looking good for the win. In the 2002 IHRA racing season, GM Performance Parts IHRA drag racers powered forward and earned enough points to win two IHRA "World Championships" and one "Runner-up" title. GM Performance Parts powered the dragsters to the finish line.

Monty Bogan, Jr. finished the IHRA season at the top of the Super Stock division and captured the "World Champion" title. The Super Stock division features some of history's most powerful production vehicles and serves as the arena for "factory" musclecar showdowns.

"Winning the Super Stock championship capped off a fantastic race season," said a thrilled Bogan. "I knew I had to go out there and win races and that is what I did. The GM Performance Parts team continues to believe in me and their support is bar-none."

Adding to the GM Performance Parts team winnings was teammate Mike Adams in IHRA Top Stock. This season, Adams accumulated enough points to earn the title of Top Stock World Champion. Adams won bragging rights with his wheel-standing, gear-jamming, 9.84 seconds in 133 miles per hour Fast Burn crate engine performances. "Winning the 2002 Top Stock championship is a memory that I will hold onto for a long time," said Adams. "To take my first championship in Top Stock is an amazing feeling."

Additionally, GM Performance Parts teammate, Tony Stephenson, entered the 2002 IHRA Modified division looking to add another championship title to his portfolio. Although Stephenson did not come out on top, he muscled his way to runner-up, losing the championship title by only one one-thousand of a second.

"I'm never satisfied with a runner-up finish, but it could have been a lot worse," said Stephenson. "Thanks go to GM Performance Parts for developing terrific engines and putting me in a position to win races."

Racing is an integral part of General Motors' history. And with drag racers like Bogan, Adams, and Stephenson, GM Performance Parts is gearing up to add to that rich racing history.
