Intelligent System Clears Ice and Snow from Windshields

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Dec. 27, 2002; Microheat Inc. will transport freezing weather conditions and buckets of bugs into Michigan Hall at the 2003 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) to demonstrate HotShot®, the intelligent HotWASH(TM) system.

At the touch of a button, HotShot automatically removes ice, snow, and frost from windshields and wiper blades. Drivers will no longer be forced to stand outside in freezing temperatures, scraping their windshields. Hot fluid cleans better than cold, so streaking caused by bug gunk and road grime is removed for maximized safe vision in warm weather, too.

At NAIAS, Microheat steps onto the global automotive stage as the world-class Tier One developer and manufacturer of HotShot, a stand-alone intelligent fluid heating system that integrates quickly and easily with any vehicle's windshield washer lines and electrical system. HotShot fits any vehicle, any model, any year.

Microheat's HotShot heats standard washer fluid to 145 degrees F in seconds, long before the vehicle's engine heats up. It also maintains hot fluid at all times while driving.

Increased Safety and Comfort - One System for All Seasons

Destined to become the industry standard for keeping windshields clean and clear, the HotShot maximizes driver safety and comfort. It makes driving safer by reducing driver distraction caused by snow and ice build up on the windshield and wiper blades during difficult cold weather conditions.

"HotShot is an ideal product for all drivers in all climates, and something market research tells us drivers want," said John Poris, VP of Engineering at Microheat. "The advantages in cold weather are clear, but in warmer weather situations, driver vision can be severely hampered by the smear and glare caused by bugs, bird droppings and road grime as well."

According to the 2001 Emerging Technologies Study completed by J.D. Power and Associates, more than 90 percent of drivers in the Northern U. S. seek a heated alternative, and 69 percent of drivers surveyed are seeking advanced windshield cleaning systems. HotShot addresses both issues in one product that is small and easy to install.

Microheat spent years developing and testing HotShot under the most extreme, real-life conditions. These immense efforts have allowed Microheat to create the truly intelligent system that precisely combines fluid control, temperature, time and energy in HotShot's pioneering smart system technology. Technical innovations generated by the program have led to the filing of 27 patents.

A Chilling Demo at the North American International Auto Show

At NAIAS, Microheat will offer a chilling demonstration in its freezing chamber (-10 degrees F) to show the effectiveness of its HotShot system in removing ice and snow from windshields.

For a touch of summer, Microheat will bring its warm-weather chamber as well to demonstrate the speed and simplicity of removing bug gunk (yes, Microheat engineers will bring the gunk with them).

"We are proud to be a sponsor of the NAIAS," said Solomon Franco, Microheat's founder. "Michigan Hall promises to be the gathering place for the latest in technological innovations for the automotive industry and we have something that, while at first sounds simple (heating washer fluid), has been sought for generations."
