Spanish 2002 Car Sales Down

MADRID, Jan 2, 2003; Reuters reported that new car sales rose seven percent year-on-year in December to 114,506 units and fell 6.6 percent in the year, provisional data from Spain's National Carmakers' Association ANFAC said on Thursday.

The number of new cars sold in the 12 months of 2002 dropped to 1,331,878 units while four-wheel-drive car sales fell 7.5 in the 12 months of 2002 to 73,766 units.

ANFAC usually produces definitive sales figures later in the month. In November car sales fell 8.7 percent.
