Detroit Auto Show: Advanced Brake Technology On the Volvo XC90 "Truck Of The Year"

DETROIT, Jan. 5, 2003; Volvo's first sport utility vehicle, the
all-wheel drive XC90, recently named "2003 North American Truck of the Year,"
features advanced brake technologies from Continental Teves.
Continental Teves supplies Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS) with traction
control and its Electronic Stability Program (ESP), enhancing Volvo's legacy
of producing some of the safest vehicles on the planet. ESP is an
interactive, high-tech safety system that senses possible loss of control. It
activates the brakes and reduces engine torque to help drivers maintain
control during the twists and turns of driving.
Continental Teves supplies the Anti-lock Brake Systems from its Mechelen,
Belgium facility.
Continental Teves, headquartered in Frankfurt/Main Germany, is a unit of
Continental AG, Hanover, Germany. With 2001 sales of approximately $10
billion (US), Continental is a world leader in the design, development and
supply of critical brake and chassis systems that contribute to driving safety
and comfort. Continental Teves' North American component is headquartered in
Auburn Hills, Mich.
