CHICAGO, Jan. 29 -- Once again the time is quickly approaching for the much anticipated Chicago Auto Show. Millions of car enthusiasts are anxiously waiting to get a glimpse at the novelties, innovations and exciting new concepts the car industry is bringing to the market. The Auto Show will open its doors to the public on February 14th and will go on through February 23rd. The Chicago Auto Show will be open from 10am to 10pm on February 14th through February 22nd. On February 23rd, the Show will be open from 10am to 8pm. Amongst the mass exhibits of the new releases, the Volo Auto Museum display will offer a break from the complexity of modern day vehicles, bringing a unique dash of style, elegance and perfection to McCormick Place that can be found only in the antique and collector cars from the Museum's showrooms. For the past 26 years, crowds have flocked to the Chicago Auto Show just to see what masterpieces the Volo Auto Museum has brought to McCormick Place and each year the Auto Museum has put on a show for its fans. This year the Museum promises to do the same by bringing an awe-inspiring display. The Volo Auto Museum will be contributing a few examples of the diverse and extensive collection of over 200 antique and collector cars on show at the Museum. This year's display will include an impeccable 1909 Buick Model 10 roadster, a rare 1954 Buick Skylark Convertible, and a 1967 Shelby Mustang that was affectionately named Eleanor in the hit Nicolas Cage movie, "Gone in 60 Seconds". The 1909 Buick roadster is one of the finest of its kind in the world. Completely restored, its snow-white glass finish and diamond tuff red leather interior provide a gorgeous backdrop for the shimmering polished brass finishing that gives the car an extra touch of class and elegance. In mint condition, features such as the mother-in-law back seat and wooden spoke wheels give spectators a peek at what the predecessors to all of today's vehicles were like. Not only was this a magnificent machine, but it was a mighty one too. This vehicle was victorious at several car races, including at the first year of the Indy Speedway in 1909 where the Buick Model 10 roadster took first place. A perfect example of the rare 1954 Buick Skylark will also be on display at the Chicago Auto Show. Flared fender openings and a unique rear styling were 54 Skylark hallmarks. The wheel wells are opened up and the inserts painted red to match the flawless red waffle-pattern leather interior that beautifully contrasts the mirror finish tuxedo-black exterior with the extensive vibrant chroming that envelops this dark beauty. This Buick was the only to feature a tapered rear deck and chrome fins putting the car in a league of its own. Priced at a hefty $4483, only 836 of these were ever produced. Also included in this year's lineup is the 1967 Shelby Mustang "Eleanor" as seen in the hit movie "Gone in 60 Seconds" starring Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie. This Eleanor is authentic and documented, produced by Cinema Vehicle Services who built the fleet of 12 1967 Shelby Mustangs for the movie. Each Mustang was heavily modified to become the eye-catching Eleanor seen onscreen. Some changes included adding custom side exhaust, 17-inch wheels, 428 V-8 with 650 HP, and custom hood. And no two Eleanors were alike either. Each car was built to serve a different purpose -- some were built for jumps, others to speed down an alleyway, and others for driving scenes. Out of the 12 Eleanors built, almost half were destroyed. Eleanor, the 1909 Buick Roadster and the 1954 Buick Skylark are only a hint of what the Volo Auto Museum has to offer. The Volo Auto Museum has an extensive and exclusive collection of over 250 collector and Hollywood cars on display throughout 5 showrooms. The Volo Auto Museum is open 7 days a week from 10am-5pm. Admissions are $6.50 for adults, $5.00 for seniors, $3.00 for children 6-12 and free for any kid under 6. The museum is located about 50 miles North of Chicago, 50 miles East of Rockford and 50 miles Southwest of Milwaukee, 1/2 mile West of Route 12 on Highway 120, 13 miles West of I-94 in Volo, Illinois.
