CYPRESS, Calif., Feb. 13 -- Mitsubishi Motors North America,
Inc. (MMNA) today announced suggested retail pricing for 2004 Mitsubishi
Endeavor, Mitsubishi's all-new mid-sized crossover S.U.V. The Endeavor will
range from a suggested retail base price of $25,597 to a fully-loaded
suggested retail price of $33,497 not including destination and handling
of $595.
"Endeavor complements Mitsubishi's expanding line of S.U.V.s and will
compete aggressively in the growing mid-sized crossover S.U.V. market," said
MMNA Chairman and CEO Pierre Gagnon. "Next month consumers in this segment
will have a new choice that is thoroughly Mitsubishi in its spirited
performance and stylish design."
When the 2004 Endeavor arrives in dealer showrooms in March, consumers
will be able to choose from three unique trim levels (LS, XLS, and Limited),
each available in either front-wheel or full-time, all-wheel-drive versions.
The three trim levels include a wide range of standard features while offering
packages of the most popular optional equipment.
The Endeavor LS is a well equipped S.U.V. that provides drivers with
superior cargo flexibility and desirable S.U.V. image at an attractive price.
The Endeavor LS 2WD will begin at a suggested retail base price of $25,597 and
the Endeavor LS AWD will begin at a suggested retail base price of $27,597.
Both have the option to add a full-sized spare tire and towing prep package
for an additional $300.
The Endeavor XLS incorporates sportier premium appointments with upgraded
features and attitude. Suggested retail pricing for the Endeavor XLS 2WD will
start at $27,897 and reach $31,497 for a fully-loaded model. Suggested retail
pricing for Endeavor XLS AWD will start at $29,897 and reach $32,997 for a
fully-loaded model. Four popular equipment packages are available for XLS 2WD
and AWD models, including the full size spare tire and towing prep package
($300), the cold zone package with heated front seats and heated sideview
mirrors ($300), the touring package with power sunroof and leather seating
surfaces ($2,050), and the security package with front side airbags and anti-
theft security alarm system ($950/2WD, $450/AWD). Also available separately
is an optional power sunroof ($900).
At the top of the model ladder is the fully-equipped Endeavor Limited that
includes many standard features like a leather covered steering wheel and
shift knob, sunroof, side-impact air bags, and rear passenger A/C controller
and blower. The Endeavor Limited 2WD will begin selling at a suggested retail
price of $31,697 and the Endeavor Limited AWD will begin at a suggested retail
price of $33,197. Both have the option of the full size spare tire and towing
prep package for an additional $300.
All Endeavors will feature a 4-speed Sportronic(TM) transmission and are
powered by a responsive 3.8-liter, 60-degree, SOHC V6 engine. Rated at
215 horsepower at 5,000 rpm, with peak torque of 250 lbs.-ft occurring at
3,750 rpm, the Endeavor's V6 is capable of propelling the front-drive S.U.V.
to 60 mph in under 9.5 seconds (est. for 2WD LS).
As part of Mitsubishi's Project America initiative, all Endeavor models
will be built by the manufacturer ranked third in assembly productivity among
North American manufacturers (The Harbour Report North America, 2002). The
Mitsubishi manufacturing plant in Normal, Illinois, is one of the most complex
car-building facilities on the planet with Endeavor, the facility will be
producing a total of six different cars and trucks; more than any other U.S.
plant.
