CHANTILLY, Va., Feb. 24 -- Rolls-Royce said today (February 24) that it has launched a new website that highlights the company's presence in North America. The site, located at www.rolls-royce.com/northamerica provides information on Rolls-Royce businesses in North America, including facilities and locations, joint ventures, employment data, products, services and history.

James M. Guyette, President and Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce North America Inc., said: "Rolls-Royce has been in business in North America since 1906 and today it has over 8,000 employees at 78 sites across the US and Canada. Indeed, more Rolls-Royce engines are built in the US than anywhere else in the world.

"All four Rolls-Royce business sectors -- civil aerospace, defense aerospace, marine and energy -- are represented in North America. The region is also the global headquarters for the Energy, Corporate Aircraft and Helicopters businesses. North American businesses generate more than $3 billion in annual sales -- a third of which are exports. The company has invested more than $1 billion in the US and provides over $1.5 billion annually to US and Canadian vendors generating an additional 15,000 jobs.

"Through this new site, we can highlight our past, present and future commitment to this very important region."

The new website offers a range of information on each business and includes:

  -- main facilities and contact details;
  -- North American business profiles;
  -- current news;

For further information:

Rolls-Royce plc operates in four growth markets -- civil aerospace, defense aerospace, marine and energy. It is a global company investing in technology and capability that can be exploited in each of these sectors to create a competitive range of products.

The success of these products is demonstrated by the company's rapid and substantial gains in market share over recent years. As a result, engine deliveries have grown to a total of 54,000 gas turbines in service worldwide. The investments in product, capability and infrastructure to gain this market position create high barriers to entry.

Rolls-Royce has a broad customer base consisting of more than 500 airlines, 4,000 corporate and utility aircraft and helicopter operators, 160 armed forces and more than 2,000 marine customers, including 50 navies. The company has energy customers in nearly 120 countries. Rolls-Royce employs around 38,000 people worldwide, including 23,500 in the UK, 5,000 in the rest of Europe and 8,000 in North America.

Most of the engines in service will have operational lives of 25 years or more, generating an assured aftermarket demand for the provision of spare parts and services. The company's strategy is to maximize aftermarket revenues through the development of a comprehensive services capability.

Annual sales total around $9.6 billion of which over 40 percent currently comes from aftermarket services. The order book stands at more than $27 billion, which, together with aftermarket demand, provides visibility as to future activity levels.
