Captured! AutoWeek Magazine First to Publish Exclusive Photos Of the Next-Generation 2005 Chevrolet Corvette

DETROIT, April 29 -- The world's first spy pictures of the 2005 Corvette, known internally as C6, are revealed in the May 5, 2003 issue of AutoWeek magazine. No other magazine has published real-world photographs of the car enthusiast community's most highly anticipated new models. Ace spy photographer Jim Dunne caught four lightly-camouflaged C6 prototypes testing near Brighton, Michigan.

"Corvette is America's sports car," said AutoWeek editor and associate publisher Dutch Mandel. "This is a car enthusiast's -- and a car paparazzi's -- dream. It is unbelievable to capture and reveal to the world this sexy, high-performance American icon before anyone else has seen it. That our readers get the exclusive inside scoop on the C6 is just one reason why AutoWeek is the magazine for people who care about car stuff. We get road tests, auto news, car insights and automotive trends to our readers sooner, faster and better than anyone else."

C6 chief engineer Dave Hill has told AutoWeek that the C6 retains what Corvette owners love about the car, while addressing what they would like to see improved. That means it will be faster and lighter. Sources tell AutoWeek the new base Corvette gets more power than today's high-performance Z06 model, which produces 405 hp. The C6 shares chassis and electronic parts with the all-new Cadillac XLR sports car, shown at the 2003 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Both the new Corvette and Cadillac are assembled in the same factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

General Motors Corp. plans to show the C6 to the public undisguised for the first time at the 2004 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January, 2004.
