Nissan's Chinese venture starts manufacturing Sunny car

GUANGZHOU, China; June 16, 2003; Japan Today reported thatDongfeng Motor Co, a joint venture between Nissan Motor Co. and Dongfeng Motor Corp of China, began manufacturing Nissan's new Sunny passenger car on Monday at its plant in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.

The fifty-fifty joint venture, established in May in Wuhan, Hubei Province, is meant for Nissan to spearhead its business in the fast-growing Chinese market, which has been lagged behind competitors like Toyota Motor Corp and Honda Motor Co. (Kyodo News)
