Top automotive designers begin judging the world's only global interior design awards

London, June 25 -- - Judging for The Interior Motives: Student Design Awards 2003 has now begun in earnest by top automotive designers

Project entries - received from students of transportation and product design from around the globe - are now being evaluated by The Interior Motives: Student Design Awards 2003 judging panel. The panel includes Ian Callum, Design Director, Jaguar Cars; Bill Fluharty, Vice President Industrial Design, North America, Johnson Controls Inc.; Shiro Nakamura, Senior Vice President and Head of Design, Nissan Motor Company and President Nissan Design Europe; Peter Pfeiffer, Senior Vice President Design, DaimlerChrysler AG; Roberto Piatti, Managing Director, Stile Bertone; and Rus Shafer, Director, Industrial Design, Intier Automotive.

A shortlist will be produced before final judging takes place in August. Award finalists and winners will be announced at the King Kamehameha Club in Frankfurt on the 10th September 2003. The King Kamehameha Club is one of the oldest and best-known Jazz clubs in Germany and has a striking purpose built modern interior that matches the aesthetic aspirations of the design community.

At the awards ceremony, top automotive personnel - including automaker and supplier designers, senior management, and independent industrial designers and academics - will be in attendance to meet the next generation of interior designers and congratulate the winners of the most outstanding interior design projects.

The winners of each category will be presented with a specially designed "Interior Motives" trophy together with a check for US$2000. A further check for US$10,000 will be presented to the overall winner.

The Interior Motives: Student Design Awards are sponsored by Intier Automotive, Alcantara, Alias/Wavefront, Hewlett Packard, Huntsman Polyurethanes, JSP International and Seton Company.
