ANAHEIM, Calif.--Sept. 23, 2003--Organizers of the California International Auto Show (CIAS), the first major market auto show of the 2004 auto show season, announced that the first-ever "Industry VIP Day" will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2003, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event provides a special opportunity for employees and representatives of the Southern California auto industry to preview the show before its public run, Wednesday, October 29, through Sunday, November 2, 2003, at the Anaheim Convention Center. The show opens to the public following Industry VIP Day, at 4 p.m.

"We wanted to create a distinctive event to acknowledge the thousands of people in Southern California who make such a tremendous impact on the auto industry," said Todd Leutheuser, co-director of the CIAS, and executive director of the Southland Motor Car Dealers Association. "Industry VIP Day will afford industry leaders the chance to review hundreds of 2004 model year vehicles and concept cars, and study the latest vehicle technologies in a private, business-like setting."

Modeled after similar programs at Germany's Frankfurt International Motor Show and the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Industry VIP Day is open to executives and employees of auto manufacturers and retailers, automotive suppliers, aftermarket equipment manufacturers and retailers, and members of other automotive-related services such as advertising, consumer research and marketing.

Industry VIP Day coincides with Media Day -- a full day of manufacturer press conferences, including a North American vehicle launch from Volkswagen, the CIAS Design Forum, the CIAS Motor Trend International Design Contest and the Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year Award Announcement.

Advance Industry VIP Day registration is available at a discounted rate of $25 per person on line at www.caautoshow.com. If you have additional questions, please call (717) 566-6100. On-site Industry VIP Day registration is also available for $30 per person.

"Southern California is home to many auto manufacturers, suppliers and aftermarket manufacturers, and also has the largest collection of automotive design studios in the country," says Sackrison.

The California International Auto Show is owned and presented by the Orange County Automobile Dealers Association and the Southland Motor Car Dealers Association, sponsored by the Los Angeles Times and produced by Motor Trend Auto Shows, Inc. The Anaheim Convention Center is located at 800 West Katella Avenue. Public show hours are Wednesday 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults (13 and over), $6 for senior citizens (62 and over), $4 for children (seven through 12), and free for children six and under. Additional show information is available at www.caautoshow.com.
