Goodyear Eagle F1 Tire Gains 'Best Buy' Recommendation

AKRON, Ohio, Sept. 30 -- When it comes to performance, the editors of Consumers Digest Magazine consider the best tire to be Goodyear's Eagle F1 GS. That is the story as reported in the September/October 2003 issue of the popular consumer interest publication, where top-rated tires are revealed.

Based on indicators of quality and value, Consumers Digest awards "Best Buy" designations to fewer than 3 percent of the products it reviews.

The Eagle F1 not only captured the "Best Buy" rating in the performance tire category, but the tire was rated as the "Premium Selection." This rating is reserved for the product in that segment that is "of superior quality and is priced accordingly," according to the Consumers Digest explanation. "An abbreviated way of looking at a Premium Selection is to include the models that are the best at any price," the publication states.

"Being recognized by an independent authority for having the top performance tire is an honor, and we are glad to receive the attention. But our Eagle F1 tires are winning rave reviews every day from our retailers who sell them, and from our customers who buy and drive on them," said Donn Kramer, director of Goodyear brand consumer tire marketing.

The editors of Consumers Digest wrote about the Eagle F1's unique tread design that "moves away from the contact patch -- or where the rubber meets the road -- in wet driving conditions." Further, they stated, "The tire provides excellent handling as well as an acceptable ride in everyday driving conditions."

Elsewhere in the September/October issue, Consumers Digest provides tire- related information for consumers that covers the markings on a tire and what they mean, a look at tread designs, details on tire pressure monitor systems and an explanation of tire warranties.

Details on the Eagle F1 tire or the many other selections in the Goodyear line can be found on the Internet at www.goodyeartires.com , or by visiting a local Goodyear retailer.
