ZAP Plugs Into Auto Sales

SANTA ROSA, Calif., Oct. 24, 2003 -- Officials at ZAP (BULLETIN BOARD: ZAPZ) and Voltage Vehicles say their new electric cars have sparked sales interest as dealers and consumers catch their first glimpse at industry events around the country.

ZAP CEO Steve Schneider says that its automotive distribution subsidiary Voltage Vehicles has started to receive orders for the new electric cars, which are being introduced today at the annual conference for the Independent Auto Dealers Association of California (www.iadac.org), which runs through Saturday in Reno, Nevada. Schneider added that the cars were shown at a similar event last week in Florida and people were impressed because nothing like this has ever been offered to American consumers before.

"Most people think electric cars are souped-up golf carts, expensive prototypes, or hand-built kit-cars," said Schneider, "but the new ZAP cars are production electric automobiles with amenities that even surpass the expectations of American consumers -- power windows, power door locks, CD players, air-conditioning, computer controlled instrumentation, tilt steering wheel, deluxe interior, alloy wheels, tinted windows -- not to mention the thrill of owning a zero-emission car. You'll fall in love after one test ride!"

ZAP has aligned itself with developers and manufacturers of advanced transportation technologies around the world as it focuses on the marketing and distribution. ZAP is importing the cars from Europe and Asia under exclusive distribution contracts in the independent auto dealer market. According to the National Independent Auto Dealers Association, there are more than 100,000 independent auto dealers in the United States and Schneider says these dealers are hungry for the opportunity to sell new automobiles. ZAP and Voltage Vehicles have added more than 20 sales and marketing personnel in the last three months in order to accelerate auto sales.
