General Motors is using the backdrop of the American industry’s premiere automotive showcase to make a powerful statement about the company’s continued commitment to offering “gotta-have” vehicles, parts and technology. This includes a line-up of Xtreme Chevrolet vehicles (Equinox, Colorado, Malibu and Aveo) which provides the canvas for evaluating a wide range of performance enhancements, body kits and other accessories to allow enthusiasts to customize their vehicles.

Chevrolet Aveo Xtreme The Aveo XTREME brings big attitude to a small car, with fun and practicality in an eye-catching, head-turning package. It is a tuner concept for the all-new 2004 Chevrolet Aveo, which itself brings style, roominess and a fun-to-drive quality to the entry-level segment. The Aveo XTREME, along with the other XTREME concepts, are showcases for Chevrolet to develop and evaluate a wide range of parts and body kits that allow customers to personalize and customize their vehicle to their individual lifestyles.

Inside, Aveo XTREME is a youth enthusiast’s dream, especially for those who like to entertain their friends. In-vehicle entertainment begins with a Pioneer AVHP 6500 AM/FM stereo that also includes CD, DVD and MP3 playback, along with XM Satellite Radio and a 7-inch touch screen. Still more entertainment is provided by the PlayStation 2 game system that is integrated into the center console. It features wireless headphones and can be enjoyed on the video screens mounted on the belt bar, allowing Aveo Tuner passengers to play PS 2 games or enjoy a movie, while the driver enjoys pleasurable driving.

But Aveo XTREME isn’t just fun and games; it has a serious side, as well, evidenced by the number of interior features that exude comfort and performance. The ultra suede Sparco EVO model competition front and rear seats feature a lime green “Aveo” script. The Aveo XTREME’s interior is accentuated by the Sparco Mugello steering wheel and cast-aluminum foot pedals.

Further accentuating the performance aspect of the Aveo XTREME Concept is a suspension that has been lowered 2 inches, 12-inch front and rear brakes with dual pistons up front and 18-inch wheels and tires.

Aveo XTREME’s interior is finished in optically enhanced Ebony paint.

Chevrolet Malibu Xtreme Engineered on the Epsilon architecture and featuring timeless styling, the new Chevy Malibu is a perfect choice for anyone seeking a sedan that embodies versatility, innovation and safety in a dynamic ride package. With Malibu XTREME, Chevrolet and GM are showcasing a wide range of parts and body kits that allow customers to personalize and customize their vehicle to their individual lifestyles.

Great looks and performance are the two primary requirements for any tuner vehicle, and Malibu XTREME, delivers in droves. Up front, in back and from a profile, there are plenty of styling elements to this street machine. Carbon Kevlar, for example, is used to accent the front and rear fascias, rocker moldings, the headlamp bezel, grille crossbar and the trim bar on the rear deck lid. From a profile, it’s hard to miss to rocker moldings, the custom hood with twin air extractor ducts and the rear wing.

Combine all of Malibu XTREME’s exterior styling elements with aggressive 19-inch wheels, Toyo Proxes P235-35ZR/19 tires and a suspension that is much closer to the ground, and the result is a vehicle that looks like it belongs on a slot track.

Inside, the theme is one of high-tech and “sound” performance. The driver and front passenger are treated to Sparco Torino 2 reclining black leather seats, while the rear leather seat features modified foam and trim to complement the front sport seats. A carbon fiber pattern accentuates the seat inserts. Carbon Kevlar accents the inside of the Malibu XTREME, including on the instrument panel and on the horn trim.

Driving or riding in the Malibu XTREME should be entertainment enough in most instances. When it isn’t, however, Malibu XTREME offers a Pioneer AVHP 7500 stereo system that can play CD, DVD and MP3 formats – in addition to AM/FM and XM Satellite Radio. A true delight for any audiophile, the system delivers 1200 watts of total power through Pioneer amplifiers and speakers.

Answering the second tuner requirement, Malibu XTREME is outfitted with a 2.0-liter, intercooled and supercharged Ecotec engine that delivers 240 horsepower. An engine this good must be displayed, so Malibu EXTREME’S engine features a ceramic-coated exhaust manifold with dual outlets for improved performance, carbon Kevlar cooling fan, radiator module cover and battery cover.

Malibu XTREME is finished in Tangerine Orange paint.

Chevrolet Equinox Xtreme In its production form, the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox is already a great-looking vehicle. The Equinox XTREME is a showcase for GM to develop and evaluate a wide range of parts and body kits that could allow owners to turn Equinox into one of the wildest street rides. Plus, it’s a great way to grab the attention of today’s youth enthusiasts.

Equinox XTREME’s bold statements begin under the hood, where the turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine resides. It features a Garrett turbocharger with Vortech liquid-to-air aftercooler and delivers 305 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 300 lbs.-ft. of torque at 4400 rpm. The 3.5L V-6 also features redesigned intake and exhaust ports on the cylinder heads for better air flow, resulting in improved fuel economy and lower emissions. The 3.5L is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission.

“Bold” is also an apt description for Equinox XTREME’s exterior styling. It features custom ground effects package that features front and rear fascias with carbon fiber inserts, carbon fiber rocker panels and a custom, roof-mounted rear wing. These, combined with 20-inch wheels and a body that has been lowered three inches, create a vehicle with an aggressive, powerful stance.

Equinox XTREME also features custom headlamps and custom clear-lens taillamps with LED signals. Both the headlamps and the taillamps are accented with carbon fiber inner bezels. Carbon fiber is also found on the engine air inlets. Other Equinox XTREME exterior styling elements include a Sparco locking gas cap and fuel filler finished in brushed aluminum and body-color badging.

Inside, Equinox XTREME features Sparco Torino-2 front seats and a custom rear seat with modified foam in a sport appearance. The seats are finished in ebony leather with Uniroyal Naugahyde vinyl inserts that match the “Kipper Intense Yellow” exterior color. Also included is a Sparco Flash 5 steering wheel and Sparco Stripe cast aluminum foot pedals.

Entertainment is extremely important to today’s youth, and Equinox XTREME delivers with a Pioneer AVHP 7500 stereo system that produces 1000 watts of total continuous output. This entertainment system features DVD audio, CD and MP3 players, in addition to AM/FM bands and XM Satellite Radio. It also features a 7-inch touch screen and a 20-inch LDC monitor that is mounted to the rear storage tray.
