Green Car Earns 10 Awards at Prestigious International Automotive Media Conference

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., Dec. 11, 2003 -- Green Car Journal, a leading auto industry publication based in San Luis Obispo, Calif., took home multiple awards, including gold for Best Newsletter, at the 2003 International Automotive Media Conference (IAMC) held in New York City. Additionally, the full-color consumer magazine Green Car Journal Special Edition won bronze for Best Single Magazine Issue (under 50,000 circulation) and a silver for Total Magazine Design.

"We're honored to receive this kind of recognition amid such a field of distinguished publications like Motor Trend, Automobile, and Autoweek," says Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and founder of the Green Car Group. "This is especially encouraging news for our new magazine launch, which is different from all other automotive titles because of its exclusive focus on automobiles and the environment." The next issue of Green Car Journal Special Edition magazine debuts on January 2.

Sponsored by Meguiar's, Red Bull and others, the IAMC is the premier annual venue for recognizing outstanding achievements in automotive journalism.

Cogan began publishing the newsletter in 1992 after 18 years of writing and editing at major auto magazines, including Motor Trend. The quarterly Green Car Journal Special Edition is Cogan's first independent magazine launch, following in the footsteps of seven automotive titles he launched at Petersen Publishing Company. Information on both publications is available at www.greencar.com .

IAMA Medallions of Excellence were also awarded to Green Car Journal Special Edition -- a silver for Road Test ("A Tale of Two Civics"), a silver for Best Commentary ("Carroll Shelby Speaks Out"), and a bronze for Best Technical ("How Hybrids Work"). The Green Car Journal newsletter won a bronze for Best Newsletter Writing/Column ("Perspective").

Additionally, Green Car Marketing & Communications received a silver medallion for Best Single Element in a Campaign for its corporate brochure. GCMC has worked with Fortune 100 companies like Honda, GM, Volvo, and ChevronTexaco, as well as other auto- and technology-related companies requiring environment-focused consulting and public relations.

Green Car Group's activities include publishing the Green Car Journal and Green Car Journal Special Edition; marketing, public relations, and advertising through Green Car Marketing & Communications; and educational outreach and research through the nonprofit Green Car Institute.
