AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch; Gasoline Prices Head Downward

HOUSTON--Dec. 12, 2003--Gasoline prices in all of the major Texas cities on this week's list showed slight decreases, according to the Weekend Gas Watch by AAA Texas.

Currently, the Texas average for a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline is $1.39 a gallon -- a penny less than last week's average. Corpus Christi continues for the thirteenth straight week to have the cheapest gas averaging $1.33 a gallon -- down more than two cents. Houston and the Austin-San Marcos area both dropped a penny to stand at $1.37 a gallon. Dallas tops the list at $1.40 a gallon -- down slightly more than a penny.

"Barring any supply disruptions, motorists can expect to see prices at or close to their current level for the rest of 2003," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "This price stability should help fuel auto travel during the upcoming Christmas holiday."

AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for automobile trips.
